Le Concerto de Berlin est une œuvre emblématique du compositeur Vladimir Cosma, initialement créée pour la bande originale du film La 7ème Cible réalisé par Claude Pinoteau en 1984. Ce concerto pour violon et orchestre, d’une durée d’environ 9 minutes dans sa version courte, a été interprété par le violoniste Ivry Gitlis, accompagné de l’Orchestre Philharmonique de Berlin sous la direction du compositeur lui-même .

 

En 2001, Vladimir Cosma a développé une version intégrale de cette œuvre, étendue à environ 29 minutes. Cette version enrichie a été enregistrée avec le violoniste Vadim Repin, salué par Yehudi Menuhin comme “le meilleur et le plus parfait des violonistes qu’il m’ait été donné d’entendre”, accompagné de l’Orchestre National de Lyon sous la direction du compositeur .

 

Le concerto est structuré en plusieurs mouvements, mettant en valeur la virtuosité du violon solo et l’expressivité de l’orchestre. Il mêle des éléments lyriques et dramatiques, reflétant l’atmosphère du film tout en affirmant son autonomie en tant qu’œuvre de concert.

 

Le Concerto de Berlin est disponible dans l’album Œuvres Concertantes, paru en décembre 2023, qui comprend également d’autres compositions majeures de Vladimir Cosma telles que Eternity (extrait du film La Vouivre), Concerto Méditerranéen et Oblique pour alto et orchestre .

The Concerto de Berlin is an iconic work by composer Vladimir Cosma, originally created for the soundtrack of the film La 7ème Cible, directed by Claude Pinoteau in 1984.
This concerto for violin and orchestra, approximately 9 minutes long in its short version, was performed by violinist Ivry Gitlis, accompanied by the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of the composer himself.

In 2001, Vladimir Cosma developed a complete version of the work, extending it to about 29 minutes. This expanded version was recorded with violinist Vadim Repin, praised by Yehudi Menuhin as “the best and most perfect violinist I have ever heard,” accompanied by the Orchestre National de Lyon, again under the baton of the composer.

The concerto is structured in several movements, highlighting the virtuosity of the solo violin and the expressiveness of the orchestra. It blends lyrical and dramatic elements, reflecting the atmosphere of the film while asserting its autonomy as a concert work.

The Concerto de Berlin is available on the album Œuvres Concertantes, released in December 2023, which also includes other major compositions by Vladimir Cosma such as Eternity (from the film La Vouivre), Concerto Méditerranéen, and Oblique for viola and orchestra.
